PTE Rescheduling and Cancellation: Process, Rules and Fees
Understanding PTE
Plans change, and your booked PTE date may no longer work. The myPTE dashboard lets you move a test appointment for free while more than 14 full calendar days remain, up to 6 times, and a PTE cancellation earns a refund that shrinks as the test gets closer.
The rules follow the Pearson Policy Center (updated 17 September 2026) and Refund Policy, which differ from the day counts in Pearson's older product-page FAQ.

Is It Possible to Reschedule a PTE Exam?
Yes, you can reschedule a PTE exam for free in myPTE as long as more than 14 full calendar days remain before your test. A reschedule moves your existing test appointment to a new date or center through your myPTE account. Inside the 14-day window the Reschedule option disappears, and the free reschedule is no longer available.
The Policy Center rules aren't split by test, and Pearson's help center gives the same myPTE steps for PTE Academic, PTE Core and PTE Home bookings.
When Can You Reschedule Your PTE Exam?
You can reschedule while more than 14 full calendar days remain before the test; from 14 days out you can't reschedule and must cancel and rebook. Count full calendar days back from your booked test time, not from the date alone.
Pearson's own pages disagree slightly here. The Policy Center intro says "at least 14 full calendar days", the PTE Academic FAQ says "up to 14 days before", and the rescheduling clause says "more than 14". That last clause is the most specific, so act before the 15th day out to stay safely inside the free window. Once the Reschedule button vanishes, cancel and rebook is the only way to change the date.
How Many Times Can a PTE Exam Be Rescheduled?
Pearson allows a maximum of 6 times per single appointment. That reschedule limit counts every move, and each one has to happen while more than 14 full calendar days remain. After the sixth move, Pearson leaves only one route: cancel under the refund rules and book again.
How Do You Reschedule a PTE Test?

To reschedule, log in to your myPTE account, select your booking, choose Reschedule, then pick a new date and center. Follow these steps from the dashboard.
- Log in to your myPTE account.
- Open the booking on your dashboard.
- Choose the Reschedule button next to that booking.
- Pick the new test date and test center.
- Confirm, then look for the email Pearson sends confirming the change.
If the Reschedule button is missing, either 14 days or fewer remain or the booking has already moved 6 times. For help, Pearson's help center offers live chat from the pop-up in the corner of the screen, a local phone number through "Find your local number", and a contact form.
What Is the PTE Rescheduling Fee?
Select the country where you will sit the test and the exact test product in Pearson's fee finder. Then choose an available appointment in myPTE and check the displayed total, currency and payment terms before paying. Save the confirmation and receipt. This guide does not quote a current country price.
What Is the PTE Cancellation Policy?

Pearson's cancellation policy gives a full refund more than 14 days before the booked test time, a 50% refund from 14 days until more than 7 days before the appointment, and no refund at 7 days or fewer. Pearson's Refund Policy works through its own example of a test on 17 April at 2:00 PM.
| When you cancel | Refund | Example (test on 17 April at 2:00 PM) |
|---|---|---|
| More than 14 days before | 100%. | Cancel before 3 April, 2:00 PM. |
| Between 14 and more than 7 days | 50%. | Cancel from 3 April, 2:00 PM until 10 April, 1:59:59 PM. |
| 7 days or fewer | None. | Cancel from 10 April, 2:00 PM. |
The tier depends on how far away the test is at the moment you cancel. Pearson's PTE Academic FAQ gives "14 or more days free, 13-8 days 50%, fewer than 7 days nothing", which clashes with the Refund Policy at the edges. The dated Policy Center and Refund Policy are the rules followed here, so cancel well before a boundary, never on the day it falls.
Missing the test without cancelling leaves you in the no-refund tier. Pearson's handbook adds that if you arrive late, you can't sit the test and you lose the fee, so a new attempt means a new booking at the full fee.
How Do You Cancel Your PTE Exam Slot?
To cancel your exam slot, log in to myPTE, select your booking and choose Cancel; your refund depends on how many days remain at that moment. Check the refund tier in the table above before you click, because the clock is measured to your booked test time. Pearson then emails you to confirm the cancellation.
If you paid by credit or debit card, Pearson's handbook says any refund goes back to the original card or bank account. If you paid with a voucher, Pearson gives no direct refund, so contact the seller you bought it from.
Can You Reschedule the PTE Test for a Medical or Family Emergency?
Pearson may, at its discretion, allow a free reschedule for a medical emergency or family emergency if you submit the Request Emergency Reschedule form with evidence. Send it as soon as you know: the form can go in up to 14 full calendar days before the test and no later than 72 hours after the test appointment.
Pearson asks for evidence without listing documents; medical paperwork such as a doctor's note is the obvious kind to attach, and Pearson contacts you if it needs more information. There's no automatic right to a rebook or refund.
How Do You Pick New PTE Exam Dates After a Change?
Choose a new exam date that leaves room for score arrival before any application deadline, and book it while the free window still applies to that new appointment. Work backward: application deadline first, then the date, then the center. Results typically arrive within two business days, sometimes up to five, so leave a buffer before your application deadline for results, any additional checks and a possible retake.
How Do You Rebook a PTE Test Booking After Cancelling?
Use Pearson’s current booking guide and check the available appointments in myPTE. Confirm test product, accepted ID, appointment details and payment status. For account corrections or accommodations, contact Pearson before paying rather than rely on an unverified deadline.
How Much Does a New PTE Booking Cost?
Select the country where you will sit the test and the exact test product in Pearson's fee finder. Then choose an available appointment in myPTE and check the displayed total, currency and payment terms before paying. Save the confirmation and receipt. This guide does not quote a current country price.
What Happens If Pearson Cancels Your PTE Booking?
If Pearson cancels or moves your test, it arranges either a refund or a reschedule to another date or center. A Pearson cancellation also means checking the PTE exam day rules again, since another center can have a different check-in routine.
How Is a PTE Reschedule Different From a Retake?
A reschedule moves a test you have not taken yet, while a retake is a new test you book after receiving your scores. A retake follows its own booking rules, covered in our guide on how to retake the PTE.
How should I use this Reschedule guide?
Use the task guidance and authored practice examples, then check Pearson’s current instructions for your exact test. Confirm any application, fee, age or ID requirement directly with its owner before booking. Practice estimates are not official scores.
