PTE Results: When They Arrive, How to Check, Send and Rescore
Scores and Results
Your results notification directs you to the digital Score Report in myPTE. Universities can verify a report you share or a Score Report Code you provide. Australian or New Zealand score allocation selected at booking and UKVI reference-number verification follow separate processes. Most results arrive in around two days, but allow at least five working days and possible additional review.

When Are PTE Results Released?

Most test takers get PTE Academic and PTE Core results within two business days of the test, and in some cases it takes up to five business days. Pearson sends a results email when your score is ready, so the email is your signal to sign in. The PTE result time counts business days, not calendar days, so a Friday test can mean a result after the weekend.
Pearson's FAQ ties the exact wait to processing times. Pearson doesn't promise weekend releases, so don't plan a deadline around one.
Are PTE Results Given in 2 Hours?
Pearson does not guarantee a result within two hours. Some scores may arrive earlier than the usual window, but plan around the published timing and allow for additional review. Check myPTE and your email, including spam, rather than relying on a same-day deadline.
How Do You Check Your PTE Results?
Checking is free: watch for Pearson's email, then sign in to your myPTE account and click View Score. Pearson's Help Center describes two ways into the report, and the last step gives you the code you'll share later.
- Wait for the results email, and look in your junk or spam folder if it's late.
- Open the myPTE sign-in page and sign in to your myPTE account.
- Click the "View Score" button on your myPTE homepage to open your Score Report.
- If no View Score button shows, open "My Activity", find the test and click "View Score" beside it.
- Copy the 10-character Score Report Code from the top of the report, plus any visa URN printed on it.
Can You Check PTE Results With a Passport Number?
No; Pearson's pages describe checking results by signing in to myPTE, and institutions verify with the 10-character Score Report Code or the 9-digit Registration ID, so no passport-number lookup is listed. Your passport number ties your ID to the booking, but it doesn't open a result. If you've lost access, recover the myPTE account rather than searching by passport.
How Do You Download Your PTE Result?
From the View Score screen in myPTE you can download the Score Report in PDF format to save or print, but Pearson says institutions do not accept paper or PDF score reports. Keep that copy for your own records and for quick reference when you fill in forms. To get the score to a university, send it through myPTE or hand over the Score Report Code.
What Is on Your PTE Score Report?
The Score Report shows your overall score on the 10-90 scale and four communicative skills scores for listening, reading, speaking and writing. A header names the test taken, and the report adds your photo, your details, the test date and a valid-until date.
The 10-character Score Report Code sits in the header and lets an institution look up your result, while the 9-digit Registration ID under your name links the report to your booking. A PTE Academic UKVI report also carries a SELT URN, and a PTE Core report carries an IRCC URN for Canadian visa forms.
Pearson's Score Guide states that the overall score reflects your performance across the entire test and is not an average of the four communicative skills scores. Alongside the report, myPTE gives you a Skills Profile.
What Is the Skills Profile on Your PTE Score Report?
The Skills Profile is a personal breakdown in myPTE that shows, with performance bars, how you did across eight categories of language skills, plus recommendations; it's only visible to you, and institutions never receive it. Pearson names the categories Open Response Speaking and Writing, Reproducing Spoken and Written Language, Extended Writing, Short Writing, Extended Speaking, Short Speaking, Multiple-skills Comprehension and Single-skill Comprehension.
Click any category to read what it measures and get practice recommendations tied to the Global Scale of English. Pearson notes the bars can move between attempts even when your scores barely change. Start your next study block with the category that shows the shortest bar.
What Are Enabling Skills in PTE?
Enabling skills (grammar, oral fluency, pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary and written discourse) were a section of the old PTE Score Report that Pearson removed in November 2021 and replaced with the Skills Profile. A current report shows no enabling skills scores, so any guide that lists them describes the pre-2021 report. Pearson still scores traits such as Content, Oral Fluency and Pronunciation inside individual tasks, as its Score Guide sets out task by task.
How Does PTE Scoring Work?
Pearson's AI scoring system, trained by experts, scores each response on its own task scale and reports your scores on a 10-90 scale. Some responses are also reviewed by a human expert before the score is finalized. Pearson trains its scoring engine on speech from over 90 language groups, so an accent alone doesn't pull a score down.
Tasks that test two communicative skills feed both scores. How each task feeds those scores is on our PTE score explained page.
What If You Can't Access Your PTE Results?
If five working days have passed, check your junk or spam folder and sign in to myPTE; a result can be held back for an extra review or a security check before release. Pearson names two reasons for delayed scores, and each problem below has its own fix.
- Certainty review: the scoring system sometimes flags a result for additional review, which adds time.
- Security check: Pearson confirms the test taker's identity, and biometric security can start an investigation.
- Early worry: wait the full five working days before you treat a result as late.
- Missing email: search your junk folder and spam folder for the message from Pearson.
- No email at all: sign in to myPTE anyway, because the result can be there already.
- Photo error: if the report shows "Technical problems are preventing us from displaying candidate photographs", run it again later.
- Ready but blank: Pearson says the report should appear within 24 hours of that message.
- Sign-in failure: reset your password from the myPTE sign-in page and try a different browser.
If the result still won't show, use the Customer Support form. Pearson says the form is the fastest route, because a phone call or live chat takes longer to reach the specialist team.
How Do You Send PTE Scores to Institutions and Visa Bodies?

Universities get your score through a free myPTE share or your 10-character Score Report Code; you can send to as many institutions as you like. Visa bodies each have their own route. Sending a PTE Academic score from myPTE takes six steps.
- Sign in to myPTE and open My Activity.
- Click Send Scores next to the test you want to use.
- Type the institution's name in the "Institution / Organization / Department / School" field and click Search.
- Tick the box beside each institution, with up to seven institutions per send.
- Check your details, click Next, then click Next again to confirm.
- Watch for the confirmation email that says your scores went out.
Visa offices skip the myPTE share and use their own identifiers, set out by destination here.
| Destination | Test | How the score gets there |
|---|---|---|
| Universities and other institutions | PTE Academic | A free myPTE share to any number of institutions, or your Score Report Code. |
| Australia (DHA) and New Zealand (INZ) | PTE Academic | Sent automatically if you ticked them when booking. |
| Canada (IRCC) | PTE Core | Enter the IRCC URN from your Score Report on the visa form. |
| UK Home Office | PTE Academic UKVI | Enter the SELT URN from your Score Report on the visa form. |
An institution can see a score about two days after you send it, so send early when a deadline is close.
Institutions see only the score you choose, never your earlier or later attempts, and you can pick an older score as long as it's still within two years of its test date. If myPTE tells you an institution doesn't recognize PTE, that institution doesn't formally accept PTE yet, and you can't send to it until it does.
For DHA and INZ, a pre-assigned score you didn't want can be reviewed only once you've already applied; give the Test Registration ID for the attempt you want reviewed. Institutions don't accept paper or PDF reports.
How Do Institutions Verify PTE Scores?
Institutions check scores on Pearson's Score Report Website using your 10-character Score Report Code or your 9-digit Registration ID, and Pearson tells them not to accept paper or PDF copies. The Registration ID lookup works only after you've shared the report with that institution in myPTE.
When staff verify scores, the record comes from Pearson's system, not from a file you upload. It shows the test taken, your photo, your overall score and your communicative skills scores. It also shows the test date and the valid-until date.
What Is the Validity of PTE Result?
A PTE Score Report is valid for two years from the test date; after that you can no longer access the result or assign scores to anyone. Score validity at the other end can be different, because institutions and visa bodies set their own rules on how recent a score must be.
Can You Send Previous PTE Scores to Institutions?
Pearson normally lets you view and assign results for two years after the test. Check your recipient’s evidence rules and any score already allocated before expiry; some government evidence windows differ. If fresh language evidence is required, choose an accepted test or any applicable alternative allowed by that body.
How Do You Request a PTE Rescore?

Contact Pearson within 14 calendar days after the score becomes available if you want a rescore. At the 26 October 2026 check, the policy lists a USD 160 fee and human review of the entire test. Review the current policy before paying: a changed score replaces the original and may be higher or lower.
| Rule | What Pearson says |
|---|---|
| Fee | USD 160, taken by phone only. |
| Deadline | 14 calendar days from when your score is available. |
| Who rescores | A human scorer marks the entire test. |
| Limit | Once per test registration, for your most recent test only. |
| Blocked if | You have already scheduled another test. |
| Outcome | Scores usually stay the same but can go up or down. |
| New score | Replaces the original at once; the report is reissued and the old score is gone. |
| Timing | Ask before sharing; if already shared, tell the institution about any change. |
| Refund | Fee comes back if your overall or communicative skills scores change; the test fee never does. |
Consider Pearson’s rescore rules, the possibility of a lower replacement score and any application deadline before requesting one. A gap from a practice estimate is not evidence that Pearson marked your test incorrectly.
What Is a PTE Technical Review?
A technical review checks the audio recordings behind your speaking score for a technical issue; it costs USD 50, paid before the review starts, and it never changes your scores.
Request it by phone within 15 business days of getting your results, and Pearson gives the outcome within 15 business days of payment. If Pearson finds a fault in your speaking audio, you get the test fee refunded along with the review fee, and voucher users get a free credit voucher instead. If it finds nothing, neither fee comes back.
Pick it over a rescore when you suspect a microphone or recording problem rather than the marking, and note that it can come before an appeal.
How Do PTE Score Appeals Work?
An appeal reviews whether Pearson followed its own procedures and never re-marks your test; you can only appeal after a rescore, a technical review or a malpractice decision. Pearson's appeals policy runs in two stages.
| Stage | Fee | Deadline | Who reviews |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stage One | USD 120, refunded if upheld | 15 business days from the rescore, review or malpractice decision | A Pearson assessment expert new to the case |
| Stage Two | USD 150, refunded if upheld | 15 business days from the Stage One outcome | An independent reviewer; the decision is final |
To start, submit the Customer Support form and choose "Rescore or technical review appeal" or "Malpractice appeal". Then phone to pay straight away, because Pearson voids an application left unpaid for two days. Each stage's outcome arrives within 30 business days of payment, counted on the UK business calendar.
What Is the Best Result on PTE?
90 is the highest PTE score, but for most admissions the best result is the one that clears your target score for the university or visa you're applying to. Aim at the stated requirement, not at the highest score on the scale.
If a programme sets 65 overall as one minimum, reaching 65 satisfies that particular minimum only. Check every required skill, test variant, validity window and other admission condition. A higher result may matter for competitive selection, scholarships or a visa points category; there is no universal rule that 65 and 85 have the same outcome.
Is 45 a Good Score in PTE?
An overall 45 falls in the IELTS 5.5 overall alignment range of 39–46. It does not establish a UKVI B1 result: a route using the four-skill B1 threshold needs at least 43 in every required skill, the correct test variant and its other conditions. Check each score and your intended route.
How Much Is 7 in PTE?
On Pearson's July 2025 score concordance, IELTS 7.0 lines up with PTE 63, and 71 matches 7.5. Some prep sites still quote the old 65-72 range for 7.0; Pearson's current page says 63. Pearson also says updated TOEFL relationships are coming, so older PTE-TOEFL tables predate that research; every IELTS level is in our PTE vs IELTS score conversion.
What Is a Good PTE Score for University?
A good PTE score for university is the one your course states, and each university sets its own overall and per-skill minimums. Read the university requirement on the course page for both numbers, because a strong overall score can still miss a per-skill minimum in writing or speaking. University-by-university figures are on our PTE score requirements for universities page.
Who Accepts PTE?
Universities, colleges and governments in many countries accept PTE Academic, while PTE Core is the version for Canadian immigration, and PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Home cover UK visa routes. The country-by-country list of accepted countries is on our page of countries that accept PTE.
What If Your Result Is Lower Than You Need?
Decide on a rescore first, within 14 days and before you book again, because a scheduled next test blocks a rescore; otherwise book a retake, which Pearson allows as soon as your last scores arrive. Pearson caps attempts at 12 times in any 12-month period, with an exception request above that. Scores shift a little between attempts, so retest after targeted practice on your weakest Skills Profile categories; our PTE retake rules cover booking and the cap.
